To use the PocketDNC software you must have the following hardware items
An RS232 or serial communications cable is required to connect the Pocket PC unit to a CNC machine control. This cable is plugged in-between the manufacturers serial cable and the RS232 port of the machine control. These cables can be unique to a particular model of Pocket PC and the machine controller.
These cables can be purchased from us at a cost of $85 plus shipping or you can download the wiring diagrams and make them yourself.
The Dell Axim's require a special modification to the serial cable involving soldering a diode between two pins. This diode can be sourced from the following link Radioshack
If you are having problems sourcing the Dell Axim's serial cable normally referred to as a "Serial Sync Cable" then follow this link Dell Cable
If your Pocket PC unit is running under Pocket PC2003 then you will need to download the Microsoft Runtime Routines for the PocketDNC software to operate. Check your Pocket PC companion CD to make sure you are using the Pocket PC2003 operating system.
To install the Microsoft Runtime Routines
Pocket DNC must be configured correctly to suit your machine control. The software is supplied with a number of predefined setup files but the machine control must be configured to match these settings.
A number of documents are available for download which will show the cable configuration and what parameters will require setting on the control.
